Bridal Veil Colour Guide
Not sure which veil colour to choose? You’re not alone!
This is one of the most common questions we receive from brides. If you’re unsure, our go-to recommendation is our Classic Veil in Off-White — a beautifully versatile shade that complements a wide range of bridal gowns.
Off-White is softer than stark white but lighter than traditional ivory, making it the perfect match for white, off-white and many ivory wedding dresses. Your bridal veil doesn't have to exactly match your dress!
Understanding Bridal Veil Colours
Bridal gowns come in a huge variety of shades including white, off-white, ivory and champagne. Choosing the right veil colour helps create a seamless, elegant look.
One of the most common mistakes we see is brides assuming a White veil is the best choice simply because their dress is described as “white”.
In reality, White is a very bright, cool-toned shade — think snow white or blue-white. Unless your gown is an exact match, a stark white veil can look noticeably different in photos.
Our advice? Don’t rely on the name of your dress colour as every brand has a different interpretation of that colour— compare the tones instead.
Choosing Your Veil Colour
White
Best for crisp, cool-toned white dresses (less common).
Off-White
Our most popular colour. Perfect for off-white, warm white, or light ivory gowns.
Ivory
Ideal for traditional ivory dresses with warm undertones.
Champagne
Best suited to deeper ivory or golden-toned gowns.
A Simple Trick to Find Your Perfect Veil Shade
An easy way to determine the best veil colour for your dress:
- Grab a piece of plain white printer paper
- Hold it next to your dress or a swatch of your fabric
If your dress looks warm or creamy next to the paper →
Off-White, Ivory or Champagne will be your best match. Remember your veil doesn't have to exactly match your veil, you just want to get the right tone- warm or cool.
Think of Off-White as a soft, light ivory, while Ivory is slightly richer and warmer. If your gown is even deeper in tone, Champagne may be the perfect choice. Champagne doesn't look as dark in real life!
If your dress blends with the paper or looks very bright →
A White veil will usually be the best option as your dress has a cool undertone.
